David Letterman came clean yesterday on his late-night talk show.  He confessed that he has had sexual relationships with women staffers on the set of the Letterman Show. A veteran CBS News producer allegedly attempted to blackmail the comedian for $2 million, threatening to go public with information that Letterman had sex with members of his staffs, police reports say.

Robert J. Halderman, 51, a longtime Emmy-award winning producer for CBS News’ “48 Hours,” was arrested Thursday in a sting operation in which Letterman handed over a phony $2 million check.

This morning I did something I’ve never done in my life,” Letterman told his audience. “I had to go downtown and testify before a grand jury.”

Letterman revealed to the studio audience that he received a package three weeks ago containing a threat to reveal those indiscretions “if Letterman did not pay the individual a large sum of money”.

Janet to pay tribute at VMA’s

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

This Sunday, musical stars take to the red carpet once again to be criticized for what they wear and to be pounded with questions about their personal lives. No really, it’s MTV’s 2009 Video Music Awards. Fresh off the heels of the death of superstar and musical icon, Michael Jackson, you can bet the evening will be packed with homage to MJ.

His sister Janet Jackson will perform her own musical tribute to Michael to open the VMAs. While MTV has not provided details on what the King of Pop’s sister has in store for audiences, the appearance is intended to honor his storied career.

TMZ recently reported that 20 backup dancers (also the dancers set to tour with Michael at the time of his death) are rehearsing nearly 15 hours a day to prepare for the tribute. Performer Kryiss Grant, who was also an usher at Jackson’s funeral last week, told the Web site “There won’t be a dry eye in the house” when the number is through.

Jackson won a butt-load of VMAs for “Thriller” in 1984, but he is probably most noted on the awards show for the appearance he made with then-wife Lisa Marie Presley, where they practically made out onstage in 1994.

MJ: The obvious becomes official

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

The LA County coroner has finally finished his report on the death of Michael Jackson. To no one’s surprise, the singer died of lethal doses of the drug, propofol. The report finds that Jackson death is a homicide due to lethal injection of the drug.

The suspected injector? Dr. Conrad Murray, of course. Here’s the story, according to the good doctor:

The morning Jackson died, Dr. Murray gave Jackson valium at 1:30 AM. Murray said the valium didn’t work so he gave the singer an IV injection of lorazepam — an anti-anxiety drug. Murray told cops Jackson was still awake, so he then gave him midazolam — a sedative.

Murray gave Jackson more drugs. He says at 10:40 AM, he administered 25 mg of Propofol. Dr. Murray told cops Jackson repeatedly demanded the drug.

The reports filed by police and rescue workers, who responded to the scene the day Jackson died, do not show Propofol as one of the drugs Dr. Murray told them was administered. He told them about the Lorazepam [Ativan], but not about the other seditatives and definitely not about the propofol. If he is charged with the murder of Michael Jackson, this is the statement that will likely be his demise.

Homage to an Icon

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Ed McMahon has passed away at age 86.

He died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in California early this morning. McMahon was fighting a multitude of health problems, including bone cancer.

A source close to the family said this:

“Ed was at peace because he got his business taken care of. He settled his lawsuit with Cedars and with the settlement he was able to take care of his family.”

Perhaps best known for his 30-some year stint on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, McMahon also hosted Star Search and TV Bloopers and Practical Jokes with pal Dick Clark.

He is an American icon that will truly be missed.

Jon and Kate in different states

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Not only has TLC separated their interviews and limited their on-camera interaction on the hit show, the couple also separated for the weekend. The two were in totally different states!

Kate and the kids spent some time on the North Carolina coast on Bald Head Island while the estranged husband Jon tooled around their Pennsylvania home on a four-wheeler.

A mere 500 miles separated the family.

Putting in your 2 cents

Friday, March 27th, 2009

The United States Post Office is about to raise the price of stamps…again. Beginning May 11, you can expect a 2 cents hike on first-class stamps, bringing the cost to 44  cents.

“The Postal Service is not immune to rising costs which are affecting homes and businesses across America today,” said Postmaster General John Potter. “Even with the increases, the Postal Service continues to offer some of the lowest postage prices in the world.”

Due to ever-rising costs and declining mail volume, The Postal Service lost $2.8 billion last year. Unless the economy turns around, it’s headed toward much larger losses in 2009. The post office has been cutting costs by reducing work hours> They have also requested that Congress ease requirements for advance funds for retiree benefits and allow mail to be delivered five days a week instead of six.

You can still purchase the Forever Stamp at the current rate of 42 cents. Those stamps will be valid, well, forever.

Best Friends Forever

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

It seems D-lister Kathy Griffin made herself a new best friend, at least for the day. She was spotted sporting a bikini (looking good for 48) alongside socialite/heiress Paris Hilton. The pair also spent an afternoon shopping at celeb-central, Kitson on Robertson Blvd.  in Beverly Hills.

So if a D-lister befriends an A-lister, do they meet in the middle and form the B-minus list?

As much as I wish this union of completely mismatched lives was sincere, it appears that they were just filming an episode for Kathy’s show, “My Life ON the D-List”.

Injured Jackass presses on

Friday, March 20th, 2009

“I have a hematoma,” he (Steve-O) said. “In laymen’s terms it means I grew a third butt cheek… A sprained vessel… I have a pinched nerve and my back is [sprained].”

Okay, Steve-O can do all sorts of stupid, dangerous stunts for years on Jackass without injury. Give him one week of ballroom dancing and he’s out with internal bleeding? Come on, how is that possible?

The Dancing With The Stars hopeful is awaiting approval from his doctor to continue on the show. Steve-O had been nursing a pinched nerve in his back for days and then during rehearsals last week he landed hard on his microphone pack after a spill.

“This morning he [had] a doctors appointment… If the doctor says, ‘It’s okay to dance,’ then we are in the studio.” His partner Lacey Schwimmer said.

Steve-O joins a long list of injured dancers. This season has seen a record number of injuries and this is only week two! After Tuesday’s results show, the dancing pair learned that they will be sashaying through to the next round. If the Jackass is able, that is.
